Greetings from the Superintendent

Mr. John W. Elkin

Dear CPU Nation:

I am excited to serve as the superintendent of the Center Point-Urbana Community School District and look forward to leading the collaborative effort to continue making the Center Point-Urbana School District a great place to live, work, and educate students.

The district’s mission statement outlines the standards the district has committed to “… develop successful, life-long learners by providing a safe and caring environment, a stimulating curriculum, and a dedicated staff working with supportive parents in a friendly, small-town atmosphere.”

To accomplish this mission, leadership will focus on a unified vision with staff, families, and the community to ensure all students learn at high levels. This vision will be supported by maintaining safe and secure schools, building a healthy culture, and aligning systems for efficient and effective operations.

One major commitment by all leaders—beginning with me—is to be as transparent, communicative, and as celebratory as possible. As your superintendent, all I ask for is your support, honesty, and engagement that ultimately is for our students. If I can ever be of assistance or to answer any questions, please feel free to contact me or another district leader.
